PROFESSIONAL DECORATIVE PAINTERS ASSOCIATION CREATED A PERMANENT WALL MURAL INSIDE PORTLAND'S PEARL DISTRICT
On April 3rd, 2009 three local artists collaborated on an event titled Versailles in Versailles. The project featured the work of Nondis Taylor, Sherri
Gibson and Lorie Wolff, established decorative painters and members of the ProfessionalDecorative Painters Association (PDPA), who created a stunning permanent wall mural inside a French retailer's upscale store called "Versailles in the Pearl", located at NW 9th and Hoyt street. The talented artisans created a trompe l.oeil mural with a fresco style twist of the Gardens of Versailles over a three day weekend and on a 16'x24' wall. Perspective techniques highlighting the artist.s knowledge of light and shadow, harmony of color and composition, in addition to aged plaster effects gave the wall a sense of history and natural patina. Many of these techniques were demonstrated to the many visitors that attended the event, a constant group of people were treated to comentary from the collaborating artists in a fun atmosphere. Upon the completion of the event an open house was held and in attendance were many interior desginers and architects. Versailles in the Pearl.s owner, Gerard Philippon, stated, "We appreciated the opportunity work with proffessional decorative painters that created a stunning addition to our retail location. "

"One Horse Studio came into my home and painted our powder room capturing
the "theme" of the house perfectly. We also had a mural painted for our game
room. After showing Lorie a picture of our horse and describing the scene we
were looking for, she provided us with exactly what we were looking for. What
a pleasure it was to work with One Horse Studio!" . Lorna in Newberg
It was a real pleasure working with Lorie. She is creative and professional. She worked on our house repairing some walls after water damage and did a very good job duplicating another artist's work. She also did some of her original creations in our bath room and laundry room. A great experience for us. Chris and Doug in Amity
Lorie’s wonderful talent helped turn our baby’s room into a magical enchanted forest. Not only is Lorie a gifted artist, she is an exceptional listener and she provided precisely what we envisioned, while far exceeding our expectations. All of this was achieved on-time and on budget…How often do you hear that? We were thrilled to share the mural with our friends, whose children now want Lorie to paint their rooms. We couldn’t be happier with the mural she created. Shawn and Britta in Portland
Gee, I don't want to get too gushie on this. But really, after Lorie completed her magic on my kitchen, it truly is my favorite room in the house. A copper ceiling and the old world look is something to see! Retiring to a smaller kitchen was a difficult thing to face, but you made it a pleasure. Thanks Lorie!
